Why choose Get Set for SATs?
I am Rachael and having spent 30 years working in primary schools as a class teacher and senior leader, I now provide online tuition for children between the ages of 5 to 12 years.
I have expertise across the full Maths and English primary curriculum which includes Reading, Writing, Phonics and GPS (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling).
My teaching and tutoring experience spans the primary phase, from Reception to Year 6.
I have up-to-date Safeguarding training and an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate.
‘4 in 10 children have experienced anxiety and around 1 in 3 report exam or homework-related stress, according to parents.’

I am worried that my child is not keeping up with their friends at school.
My child has tests coming up and I want to make sure that they achieve their potential.
My child is ‘stuck’ on a particular topic e.g. Time, Fractions, Reading Comprehension, Spelling…
I am not sure how to help my child with their schoolwork, as teaching methods and the curriculum have changed so much.
Home life is so busy but my child needs help with their homework.
Secondary/Grammar school is approaching, and I want to help my child to feel more confident about their learning.
My child has special needs and is not receiving the support they need in class.
My child is gifted, but not sufficiently challenged at school.
I am concerned that my child can be quiet and not always ask for help in class when it's needed.
A little extra weekly practice would help my child to consolidate their learning.
If any of these apply to you, then perhaps it is time to get in touch?
As parents, you instinctively know if your child is not thriving at school but delaying tuition until secondary school can allow gaps to widen and confidence to deteriorate.
The benefits of investing in private tuition are significant and varied.
✔ Foster positive attitudes to learning; build resilience and confidence.
✔ Accelerate progress and enable your child to achieve their true potential.
✔ Ensure progress does not falter over school holidays; keep skills and knowledge fresh.
✔ Avoid gaps in learning by tackling misconceptions promptly.
✔ Familiarise children with test-style questions and time-pressured conditions.
✔ Unlike learning in a busy classroom setting, tuition gives children the opportunity to pause and ask for clarification and support without feeling rushed or self-conscious in front of their classmates.
How does online tuition work?
I use Zoom and a Wacom tablet to teach online, using a wealth of different resources to engage and meet the individual needs of your child. Online tuition is a convenient and economical way to learn from home without distractions and at your child’s pace.
Parents/Carers are asked to be within hearing and/or sight of their child while tuition takes place. Younger children benefit from having an adult sit alongside them.
I will arrange an initial Zoom call with you to discuss your child’s individual priorities, targeting my support to meet their needs.
One-to-one or small group tuition
Individual sessions, carefully tailored to meet your child’s specific needs and accelerate their progress.
Focus on one particular subject area or split sessions to cover areas of weakness in Maths and English.

Work within a small group alongside other children who have similar targets and goals e.g. KS2 SATs Boosters.
